Licensing music means you are granted permission to use the soundtrack in a production. This does not mean you’re the owner of the song. You’re unable to distribute, resell or make edits to the soundtrack (adding a vocals to resell). Music licensing implies you’re permitted to use the track. CAN I SING OVER A SONG AND SELL IT ON ITUNES?
None of our music licenses allow users to add vocal tracks to a song for resale.
IF I BUY A SONG IS IT FREE FROM CONTENT ID?
Some music libraries and authors will register their soundtracks with a content ID agencies. This prevents unauthorised use of a soundtrack in a video – typically on Youtube. Should the creator of the video decide to monetise their channel and run ads via Youtube partners program they will not receive any generated revenue. Instead, the money goes to the author of the music. It is always a good idea to consult the music libraries content id policy prior to purchase. The royalty free music available on our music library is not registered with content id. We do however encourage users to make use of Youtube field descriptions to link back to us when posting a video to avoid unfair and aggressive video takedowns.
